We all love to come and enjoy the horses but we do need to remember that they, as we, have minds of their own. When you bring your child for lessons, come on in an “sit a spell”, its fun to watch the kids as their confidence grows while riding these beautiful animals.

December 11th Classes

Just a small correction about December 11th's classes. I am still planning on have the 9 and 11 am classes on Saturday for the older kids. These classes will not interfere with getting ready and going to the Christmas Party. So if there weather holds, come out for the am classes. If it is about 10 degrees, we will most likely ride.

Work Day Time Change for Saturday

Because of the extreme cold weather we are supposed to have tomorrow morning, we are going to move our work day back to 1 pm in hopes that we won't freeze to death trying to get our work done. It will be really cold, but there is a lot of last minute things to be done to make caring for the horses in the cold easier. So if you can make it, please come out.

Reining Horses

I learned about reining today while I was talking with Cheri and Eric Copeland the owners of Lynx and Lucy. Lucy will be at the stables soon. We also want to thank them for thier gift given to the horse share. Splash is a beautiful paint who will soon be loved, and ridden, by all the kids and adults.

Here is a link to watch it's wonderful!

New Generation

When I started this blog spot we had a whole different set of families involved with Horse Share. Now our Horse Share family has grown to include several new faces. I hope that as you find our Horse Share blog that you will look to it as a place to look for schedules changes, plans for the future and most important, a place where you can share your experience and ideas for this program. Feel free to enjoy making this blog yours. Hope to see more of you on here commenting.

New Summer Schedule

We need to plan a new day to do Horse Share during the week after school gets out. Because it has been difficult for me to come up with a good day for lessons after school and we are no longer doing class on Saturdays, it looks like we are going to wait to do Horse Share again until school gets out. If anyone has any ideas of a good day and time for Horse Share, please post it. We will see what everyone says and try to make arrangements that will be best for the majority of the group. In the mean time, you can often find us at the barn after school on Tuesdays and Fridays, if you want to come down one of those days for a quick ride, that would be good. But let me know if you are coming.

Susan's Birthday

Sorry for being so flaky and not getting more information out about Friday. I had about decided to not do ride, just because it had taken me so long to get it figured out if it would work into everyone's schedule. However, tonight Lori, Kennedy's mom, let me know that Friday is Susan's birthday. So instead of riding, if anyone can come down around 4:30 to have birthday cake and to celebrate Susan's birthday, that will be great! I know this is very last minute. I am sorry about that. Don't forget a card or note to Susan thanking her for all she does. We are her family. So this would be a great surprise for her, to have her family come wish her Happy Birthday. Hope to see you there.

May 22nd No Class

This coming Saturday my family has an oportunity to do a project to earn money for our family trip this summer, so we will not be doing Horse Share. But I was wondering if anyone wanted to come down on Friday for a lesson/chance to ride. Please let me know if that would work for you.
Thanks

Join Us at The Horse Show

This Saturday your Horse Share instructors will all be participating in a horse show at Doc Rae's arena. Because all the instructors will be busy, there will be NO HORSE SHARE on Saturday. We would love to see you all come out and support us and watch the show for more details, call 461-9483.

How about the 15ths?

I just realized that Mickell and Madelyn will be out of town on the 1st of May, and will not be able to do the horse show that day. So we are thinking about doing a show later in May. We will let everyone know what is going on on Saturday, May 1st, when we get the details figured out.

Third Saturday, Work Day 8 Am

Please plan on doing another work day this Saturday at 8 am. All those who are big enough to help, please come. We will also be riding. Classes will be at the normal time.

Exciting news for the first week of May. We are planning to take those who are interested to go participate in a local horse show. The classes are $5 each and $5 registration fee. There will be a free lead line class as well. If any of you are interested in participating in this show, please contact Sherrie for more details. All Horse Share participants not participating in the show are encouraged to come watch the show and cheer on there fellow Horse Share friends. Because we will have riders showing that day, there will be no classes on that day (the first weekend in May).

Back in the Saddle Again

Hope everyone had a nice Spring Break. Classes, of course, are back on for today. Looks like we will be having some sunshine, which will be a nice addition to the day. Just a reminder, we have some new students and some changes in our classes. Tara and Carly have moved to the 12:30 class and will be joined by a new student, Sophia. Also new to the 3:00 class is Abbie's big sister Grace. We hope that we will be able to see all of you out today. It should be a good day for riding.

No Riding Saturday, Spring Break

There will be no Horse Share the first week in April because of Spring Break. Classes will resume the next week. Also, plan on a early morning work day again on the third Saturday of this month. More details about that to follow.

March 13th Classes

All things considered, we decided to for-go the road trip to Bozeman and have classes as usual. We also decided to post pone the work day for the girls since it has been a little while since we have been on the horses. So everyone plan to come at the normal time for riding. Make sure all helpers are there for the Pee Wee class since we will not have our college helpers to fill in for your absents. Hopefully it will be a nice sunny day and plenty warm. Hope to see you all then.

PS Our friends at the the L&H ranch have invited us to go see the baby goats one of the next two Saturdays. If anyone would like to take a trip to Gold Creek to feed the baby goats and hang out at the ranch, let me know. We will need to decide if we will be going and when. Feel free to weigh in on those two questions.

No Class Saturday

Just a reminder, there will be no Horse Share this Saturday. Also, on the 13th of the month we have two options. One would be to go to the Horse Expo in Bozeman. If we did this, we would need some parents to help drive all the kids there. Second, would be to combine the two older classes and do a work day and then have the younger kids later. Please feel free to weigh in on which of these two things you would like to do.

Feb 27th Change in Plans

Today's schedule is a little different since we have the farrier coming at 10. All riders from the older two classes are asked to come at 10 and help catch and hold horses for the farrier. The Pee Wee class will be at 12. Susan tried to get calls out to everyone, but I know that there is at least one family she hasn't managed to get a hold of. Sorry for the late entry of this post. Hope we caught all of you.

Tentatively Horse Share will be canceled for next week. All instructors will be out of town, including me. We had thought about taking all the girls to the Horse Expo on the 13th in Bozeman, but couldn't do this without the help of some parents driving. If any of you are interested in going and helping drive, please let me know.

Newest Plans for the Work Day

Our work day plans are finally set. We will be meeting at 9 am at the arena to do all the little chores that Susan is needing done. All kids able to come and be useful should bring their families and come help with the work. We would love to see all Horse Share families out to put in their hours as a thank you to all that Susan does to make this program possible. We will not be riding in the afternoon. So when the work is over, Saturday will be yours. See you then.

Work Day Revised

It seems we have some changes to the plans for the work day. Though I do not have a concrete time for you, it looks like we will have all those able to participate in a labor intensive work day come in the morning, and not have the students come at noon for a different work project. We will have to get back to you on the time, but plan on between 8-9 to come out and gets some work done in the morning, and then we will take a break from the normal schedule Saturday.

Also, March 13 there is a horse expo in Bozeman that we were thinking would be fun to go to as a group. There will be classes and demos to watch plus food and booths to look at that are all about horses. We will be trying to take a group from Horse Share that weekend to see expo, so keep that date in mind, and if any of you parents want to go and help getting everyone there, we would appreciate it.

Work Day

Well, I didn't get a lot of feed back on the work day, so I am going to set it myself. Our work day this month will be the third Saturday of the month. We have projects for both the big people and the students, so we will plan on the girls all coming at 12:00 pm to do some work and if there are any adults that can help with some manual labor, then we will put you to work as well. I will coordinate with Susan and let you know if the adult portion of our work day will be at a different time or not. But keep that date in mind.
Thanks

Work Day

If it works for everyone, we are looking at Feb 20th for work day for this month, so put it on your calender. Katy and Kirsten will be gone to another horse show that day, so it seemed like a good day to do our jobs instead. More details about time will be forth coming. Does anyone have a preference for time?

Tomorrow

Tomorrow we will ride. Yes i know it's cold but it is above 20 degrees so i think we will try to ride. Since the first class had their class on Thursday, they won't have their class but if they are assigned to a person in the lead line class then we would appreciate it if you could come to that class. Everything else is the same.

See you tomorrow!! :)

Snowy Day

Even though it was snowy and cold many of us braved the weather to ride on Saturday. We got to meet Haylee for the first time. She did a wonderful job teaching the beginner class. Big thanks to all the helpers, including a new helper from Carroll, Anna, who you may see in the future. We miss those of you who didn't make it out. Hope you can get there next week.

Comments, anyone...

It was nice to see so many of you back this last Saturday. I think over all it was a nice first day for our new instructors. Thanks to Kirstin and Katy for their great lessons. And a big Thanks to all the parents, siblings and friends who came out to help. It was great to see Kim back. What a great right hand woman you are. Thanks for all the jobs you did for me while I was running around. You are great! And all you students, thank you for helping each other so much. It makes Horse Share go a lot smoother.

Remember, all of you are invited to comment on this blog. This is for you, and we would love to hear from you. If anyone has any impressions of their Horse Share experience that they would like to share, I would love to have you post them. Hope to start hearing from the Horse Share members on this blog soon. It is boring to read my own posts. I want to read someone else's for once.

New Instructors

This Saturday our new Carroll College student instructors will be starting to teach the Horse Share classes. They are very excited to get started and meet all of our Horse Share Family. It will make their first day go a lot smoother if everyone can be on time and ready to go when your class is to start. (The class schedule is posted on the side of the blog.) Also remember if you are a helper for the Pee Wee class to be there in time to get horses ready and help your Pee Wee get ready to ride. It should be warm (30's) on Saturday. Still remember you gloves, hats, coats and maybe long johns and be ready to have fun. It will be nice to get going again.

Monday, January 11, 2010

Helper for the Pee Wee Class

Remember that we are planning on many of you older girls to be helpers in the Pee Wee class. This means that you need to be at the arena by 1:30 to help ready horses and be waiting for your little one to show up and help them with their helmets and get ready to ride. We will be giving more specific instruction as we go along. If any of you have questions about being a helper or can not be a helper, please let us know. If you are a helper, your name will be listed at the end of the row in the Pee Wee schedule. Being a helper is a very important piece to making it possible for these younger kids to ride. We truly appreciate your help!

Work Day

Thanks to all the girls and their dads who were able to come on Saturday for the work day. Susan said you got a lot done, and she was very grateful for all your hard work. Those of you who couldn't make it, you were missed. Please try and make our next work day. Remember it is part of your contract to do work days in exchange for the opportunity to ride. Many hands make light work. Plus, it is a lot of fun to work with your friends.

The Ranch and On To the New Year

For all of those who didn't make it to the L&H Ranch with us Saturday, I hate to say it, but you missed a good time. The girls got a huge kick out of the hay ride, including jumping of and racing to catch up with the wagon. We were fed well, like last time, and had a nice visit with the Hanson's. They had a beautiful display of Christmas houses all lit up in their dining room and a set of music boxes in the family room that were real neat to see. (Maguire and Mason really like them.) The girls even got to go see some brand new baby goats that were born just hours before they went out. (I took some pictures, but have been sick for the last few days, so I will have to add them later.) Kate is talking about us coming to visit again in the spring when all of their goats have had their babies, so keep that in mind if you would like to see a LOT of baby goats.

I am sad that with the weather and some schedule conflicts we haven't ridden in a while. Don't give up on us. We will be starting up again real soon. Remember that there will not be any riding on Saturday, but there will be a work day. So everyone plan on coming to the barn at 12:00 pm ready to do some cleaning. Susan will be there to let you know what needs to be done. If we have any muscle coming, we still have two very large posts in the arena that need to be pulled out. I think a good truck maybe in order here, although some digging may also help. For more details please contact Susan.

If all goes will are new Carroll College student instructors will be with us starting the 16th. I look forward to you all meeting each other. I think you will really like them, and they will bring a lot of fun to the group. Until then, take care.
